This event planning course will introduce learners to the skills that are required to plan, organise and evaluate events by developing their skills and knowledge. In England, you will gain an accredited Level 2 qualification.
In Scotland, this course is comparable to a Level 5 based on the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework. Upon completion of the course, learners in Scotland will receive a digital e-certificate issued by your college.

In this unit, learners will explore the three main sectors within the events industry. They will learn about the role of an event planner in terms of the responsibilities that they have and the skills required. Learners will explore what is involved in planning an event and how to plan for contingencies. Learners will also be taught about the necessity of health, safety and security measures.
Unit 2: Reviewing and Evaluating an EventLevel: 2 | GLH: 15
- Section 1: The importance of review and evaluation
- Section 2: The sources of information available for evaluating an event
- Section 3: The range of tools available for event evaluation
- Section 4: Planning the evaluation of an event
In Unit 2, learners will discover the importance of reviews and evaluation and how this benefits those involved. They will explore the different methods in which this can be carried out and the value of each one. Learners will learn how to plan the evaluation for an event using the tools and methods that they have explored.
Unit 3: Marketing and Market Research for Event PlanningLevel: 2 | GLH: 25
- Section 1: Understand why market research is important
- Section 2: The methods and resources available for marketing
- Section 3: Planning the marketing of an event
In this unit, learners will explore why market research is so important and discover how target audiences differ between events. They will look at the different methods that can be used for marketing and evaluate the suitability of each method for different target audiences. Learners will then explore what they need to do to plan marketing for an event.
Unit 4: Planning Human Resources for EventsLevel: 2 | GLH: 20
- Section 1: Understand how an event is managed
- Section 2: Understand the team which contribute to an event
- Section 3: Understand the human resource requirements for an event
In Unit 4, learners will look at how events are managed and what makes up a management team. They will explore the different teams involved in event planning and how they contribute. The unit also examines the human resources required for an event, focusing on their main roles and responsibilities.
Unit 5: Communication and Customer Service for EventsLevel: 2 | GLH: 25
- Section 1: Understand the importance of communication at events
- Section 2: Understand equality and diversity in relation to events
- Section 3: Understand why customer service is important at an event
- Section 4: Produce guidance on expected standards of customer service for staff use
In this unit, learners will explore communication and its importance in the context of events. Equality and diversity are examined, including relevant legislation. Learners will also explore the importance of customer service, what it involves, and how it can be effectively implemented. Finally, learners will develop guidance to ensure that staff deliver the expected standards of customer service.
